Our children at risk from the Reu't clubs in Sderot have had a special experience that was a memorable day for them.
On the 1st September 2026 they visited the Beta Israel Village in Kiryat Gat, a living heritage site that authentically reconstructs a traditional Ethiopian Jewish village.
Preparation for the visit began a day before with an engaging educational session focused on connecting to our roots, the ingathering of the exiles, family values, and the love for the Land of Israel.
During our tour, the children:
- Explored traditional mud-brick homes and learned about everyday life in Ethiopia.
- Participated in the traditional Ethiopian coffee and hospitality ceremony (Buna).
- Learned about deep-rooted community traditions, honoring family and parents, and the enduring resilience required to overcome hardship.
- Discussed the real challenges faced by new immigrants from language barriers to cultural integration.
- Took away a powerful core message: never letting adversity break our spirit, and the vital importance of treating every human being with dignity and mutual respect.
The entire visit was thoroughly captivating. It was deeply moving to watch the children listen with such rapt attention, stand tall with immense pride in their heritage, share their own family traditions, and walk with heads held high.
Herewith are some photos convey at least a glimpse of the joy, pride, and meaningful lessons the children experienced today.
