1. Background and Objective
On Tuesday, June 16, a comprehensive working visit was conducted to several kibbutzim within the Gaza envelope (Otef) and the city of Sderot. In accordance with our strategic guidelines and prior agreements, our team continues to dedicate special attention and resources to the rehabilitation and support of these kibbutzim.
2. Current Challenges Among Children and Youth
Through our ongoing communication with community leaders, local administrations, and educators, we have identified severe emotional and behavioral challenges confronting children and youth. These difficulties are a direct consequence of the continuous trauma experienced since October 7, 2023.
These challenges manifest in various ways, including:
- Emotional outbursts, often escalating into behavioral issues and violence.
- High levels of anxiety and symptoms of depression.
- Severe impatience, low tolerance, and emotional distress.
Recognizing these vulnerabilities from our initial engagements, we have prioritized the well-being of the younger generation. In close coordination with community management and educational staff, we have tailored customized aid packages to meet the unique needs of each kibbutz.
3. Core Objectives of Our Interventions
Our current operations are primarily focused on kibbutzim where residents have already returned to their homes. The initiatives we support are designed to:
• Strengthen social cohesion and restore a sense of belonging.
• Enhance personal and community resilience.
• Develop teamwork, cooperation, and interpersonal skills.
• Create positive, shared experiences and lasting memories.
4. Key Activities and Support Provided
To address these objectives, we have funded and facilitated a wide range of activities and provisions, including:
• Standard educational tours and outdoor adventure trips.
• Transportation services to sports activities, events, and local attractions.
• Creative art workshops and culinary (cooking) sessions.
• Community social gatherings and barbecues.
• Nutritional enrichment and meal support for afternoon child-care facilities (Moadoniot).
• Summer treats (ice cream and popsicles) during the hot months.
• Funding for furniture, games, and electrical appliances to equip youth clubhouses.
5. Geographic Scope of Activity
Our operations span across the region, currently active in the following locations (listed from south to north):
• Holit
• Sufa
• Nir Yitzhak
• Eshkol Regional Council: Supporting the "Warm Home" (Beit Cham) framework for young girls.
• Alumim
• Nahal Oz: With a specific emphasis on the Pre-Military Academy (Mechina).
• Nir Am
• Zikim
• Yad Mordechai: Supporting the Shikma institution and Beit Arnon.
For communities that have not yet returned or those with stronger socioeconomic frameworks—specifically Kfar Aza, Be'eri, and Nir Oz—we continue to provide targeted, ad-hoc assistance based on specific, immediate needs.
6. New Initiatives and Partnerships
During this visit, an initial connection was established with "Rimon Farm" (Chavat Rimon). This promising collaboration was initiated by a member of our group Shmulik Ben Rom, who organized and participated in our introductory meeting held at Kibbutz Or HaNer.
7. Conclusion and Next Steps
A more comprehensive and detailed update, including our extensive operations in Sderot and Ibim, will be presented during the upcoming General Assembly of our amuta next month.
